Planning a trip to Somalia, Countries in Africa with the longest coastlines in Africa. The first thing that springs to mind when you think of Somalia is probably with bustling cities, pristine beaches, colorful hill towns, ancient ruins, and natural wonders.


Somalia's coastline consists of the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Guardafui Channelto the northeast, and the Somali Seato the east. There is a long coastline of about 3333 km the longest on mainland Africa. Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia is situated on eastern coast of Somalia. The northern coast is shared with the Gulf of Aden, the northeastern with Guardafui Channel and the eastern with the Somali Sea.

Somalia has second longest coastline in Africa just behind Madagaskar(4828 km). The coastline is divided between northern and eastern sides. The northern tip meets Djibouti in west and eastern tip meets Kenya in its south. There is a number of Islands in the coastal areas. Ras Caseyr (Cape Guardafui) is easternmost point of Somalia, this point joins the Guardafui Channel to Gulf of Aden.
